DASBREITEHOTEL was founded in 2005 as an integration hotel in Basel. It has been a company of Stiftung Weizenkorn since 2010 and now offers around 40 accompanied jobs and apprenticeships for people with a handicap.
Stiftung Weizenkorn is the owner of DASBREITEHOTEL. It is a social enterprise in which predominantly young women and men with need of support work. In a meaningful activity they experience acceptance and appreciation. More than 300 people are employed at a supervised workplace or apprenticeship. In the areas of production, sales, accounting, gastronomy, hotel and carpentry, the employees are accompanied by the internal social service and 80 team members. The aim of the support work is to strengthen existing skills and improve employability in the private sector. The foundation has existed since 1979 and is recognised by the Confederation and the canton as a “sheltered” workshop and as a provider of professional clarifications.
